Support Services Assistant – Hotel Services

About the role

The Support Services Assistant – Hotel Services role is based at Barrhead Health Centre within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. You will help keep the healthcare environment clean, safe and welcoming by delivering cleaning, catering, laundry and portering services. This part‑time permanent position offers the chance to contribute directly to patient care behind the scenes.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning duties to maintain high standards of hygiene across clinical areas.
• Support catering services, including meal preparation, distribution, dishwashing and temperature monitoring.
• Assist with patient personal clothing services – sorting, washing and preparing garments for return.
• Undertake porter and messenger duties, transporting patients, mail, equipment and essential supplies.
• Safely operate a range of cleaning, catering, laundry and portering equipment following established procedures.
• Report faults, complete departmental records and follow work schedules as instructed.
• Adhere to health and safety policies, infection control procedures and quality standards while delivering excellent customer service.

Required profile

• A positive attitude and commitment to delivering high‑quality support services in a healthcare setting.
• Willingness to undertake training in cleaning, catering, laundry and portering duties.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety practices or the ability to learn and apply them effectively.
• Understanding of infection prevention and control procedures or willingness to be trained.
