Support Worker – 1:1 SEN Support (Temp to Perm)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a full‑time Support Worker to join a large SEN provision in the Stockport/Cheadle area. The role involves 1:1 support for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and starts on a temporary basis with the possibility of a permanent contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities on a 1:1 basis.
• Implement individual care plans and support learning and development goals.
• Manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviours while ensuring a safe environment.
• Collaborate with teaching and care staff to deliver a holistic support approach.
• Maintain accurate records of care activities and observations.

Required profile

• Resilient and able to work with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
• Previous personal care experience in a school or care setting (adult or child).
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references.

Required skills

• Manual handling techniques.
• Safeguarding awareness (up‑to‑date training preferred).
• Personal care and support skills.
