Support Worker – Adult Learning Disabilities Care

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Support Worker to join our friendly team in Jarrow, South Tyneside. You will help adults with learning disabilities live fulfilling lives by providing daily support and encouraging participation in social activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide positive behaviour support and assist with non‑verbal communication.
• Encourage service users to engage in a variety of social activities, both at home and in the community.
• Build warm, trusting relationships with service users and their families.
• Administer and monitor prescribed medication safely.

Required profile

• No prior care experience required – a caring, creative, person‑centred attitude is essential.
• Ability to develop strong, supportive relationships with adults and families.
• Commitment to working within a values‑led, inclusive environment.

Required skills

• Positive behaviour support techniques.
• Non‑verbal communication skills.
• Medication administration and monitoring.
