Support Worker – Children Care

About the role

We are seeking compassionate Support Workers to provide day‑to‑day care and mentorship for vulnerable children and young people in the Wigan area. This temporary, full‑time position offers the chance to make a real difference while working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct advocacy and compassionate care to children and young people.
• Manage emotional, learning and behavioural challenges using de‑escalation techniques.
• Safeguard the wellbeing of each individual and promote a safe environment.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop and follow holistic care plans.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate clearly with families, colleagues and external agencies.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months paid experience in UK childcare or youth support.
• Experience with children facing emotional, behavioural or learning difficulties.
• Current Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• Valid UK Right to Work and a full UK driving licence.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
