Support Worker – Children & Young People (Wokingham)

About the role

MedGen Healthcare is looking for compassionate Support Workers to provide high‑quality care to children and young people with complex mental health needs in Wokingham. You will help them feel safe, understood and supported in their daily lives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emotional support and reassurance to children experiencing anxiety, distress or behavioural challenges.
• Assist children with autism and ADHD to manage routines, transitions and sensory sensitivities.
• Support daily living activities such as personal care, meals, hygiene and structured routines.
• Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies in line with care plans.
• Safely manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviours using PMVA techniques when required.
• Maintain accurate, clear and timely records of care provided and any incidents.
• Promote a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment tailored to each individual.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months UK experience as a Support Worker.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
• Current PMVA training (or willingness to complete).
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and professional boundaries.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high‑pressure situations.
• Ability to provide a clinical reference.
