Support Worker – Driver Essential (ASD/ADHD Care)

About the role

We are looking for a patient and reliable Support Worker to provide one‑to‑one care for a young person with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and learning difficulties in Workington. The role follows a Positive Behaviour Support plan and includes safe transport to community activities. Flexible term‑time hours (Monday‑Friday, 09:00‑15:00) provide a predictable routine.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the Positive Behaviour Support plan using visual boards and “now and next” cues.
• Communicate with simple language and supported visuals, using 1‑2 key words.
• Facilitate short bursts of intensive interaction and shared play to encourage engagement.
• Drive the client safely to educational, recreational and community settings.
• Maintain consistent routines across home, school and community environments.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting young people with ASD, ADHD or learning difficulties.
• Full, clean UK driving licence and confidence driving the client.
• Calm, reliable and committed to maintaining routine.
• Ability to work independently and follow a structured care plan.
