Support Worker – Learning Disability Residential Care

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Support Worker to join our children’s residential home in Ashford. You will provide person‑centred care for children and young people with learning disabilities, helping them develop independence and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality care in line with individual care plans.
• Support daily routines, education, appointments and community activities.
• Promote life‑skills, independence and emotional wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate daily records, reports and safeguarding documentation.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team using therapeutic and trauma‑informed approaches.
• Safely manage challenging behaviours and provide calm support during distress.
• Assist with meal preparation, cooking, laundry and other household duties.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence (essential) and aged 22 years or over.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare and NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care.
• Previous experience supporting children with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour in a residential setting.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Passion for improving the lives of children and young people.
