Support Worker – Respite Care for Adults with Learning Disabilities

About the role
We are recruiting compassionate Support Workers to provide person‑centred care for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs in a specialist respite service. The role offers the chance to help individuals enjoy safe, short breaks in a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care and support.
- Provide personal care while promoting dignity, choice and independence.
- Assist with daily living activities and routines.
- Facilitate access to social, recreational and community‑based activities.
- Follow individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Support emotional wellbeing and encourage independence wherever possible.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals.
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and best‑practice standards at all times.
Required profile
- Minimum 6 months’ experience as a Support Worker, Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant or similar.
- Personal care experience is essential.
- Moving and handling experience is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate, reliable and professional approach to care.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and nights.
Required skills
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs.
- Background in residential or respite care settings.
- Enhanced DBS certificate.
