Support Worker - Unaccompanied Minors

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our team caring for unaccompanied asylum‑seeking children in reception centres across Kent. This part‑time, temporary position involves direct interaction with young people, ensuring their safe transport and smooth integration into the service.

Key responsibilities

• Attend daily handover meetings with Centre Managers to understand tasks and priorities.
• Welcome and orient new arrivals, supporting Centre Managers in the induction process.
• Accompany young people to and from appointments, using a company vehicle.
• Assist Centre Managers in booking follow‑up appointments after initial visits.
• Maintain accurate records of activities and handovers throughout each shift.

Required profile

• Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children or young people, preferably in a residential setting.
• Education to GCSE level or NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People.
• Not currently employed by Kent County Council or any agency supplying staff to KCC.
