Sustainability Advisor

About the role

We are seeking a Sustainability Advisor to join a leading construction business in Workington. The role will support the delivery of sustainability objectives across projects, ensuring compliance with ISO 50001 and carbon‑reduction targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project‑specific sustainability management plans aligned with corporate strategy.
• Liaise with site teams and supply‑chain partners to meet client and stakeholder sustainability goals.
• Create communication tools such as guidance, training material, newsletters and alerts.
• Support ISO 50001 implementation and energy‑emission data collection and reporting.
• Identify cost‑effective, sustainable solutions and promote the use of sustainable materials in design and construction.
• Produce case studies and best‑practice documentation for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to drive sustainability performance against HTUK objectives.
• Report monthly on project and business sustainability performance.

Required profile

• Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience in construction sustainability.
• Membership or progress towards ISEF (or similar professional body) is required.
• Strong understanding of the construction process and carbon‑reduction planning.
• Willingness to lead by example and undertake further training.
