Syndicate Financial Controller

About the role

Senior leadership opportunity to join a global risk‑management business as Syndicate Financial Controller. You will lead a small Syndicate Accounting team, taking responsibility for the full financial close, regulatory reporting and control‑framework governance within a complex Lloyd’s operation.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes for the Syndicate, its service company and managing agency.
• Maintain general‑ledger integrity, perform reconciliations and resolve complex accounting issues.
• Partner with the Syndicate CFO to analyse financial performance and present insights to senior stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s, FCA/PRA and Group reporting standards and coordinate audit activities.
• Develop and maintain the Syndicate Financial Control Framework, including process documentation and risk matrices.
• Identify and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives, automation and system‑enhancement projects.
• Lead, mentor and develop the accounting team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant post‑qualification experience in the Lloyd’s market.
• Deep knowledge of Lloyd’s processes such as Xchanging and LCA and the regulatory landscape.
• Proven experience leading and developing finance teams.
• Strong technical accounting expertise with attention to detail.
• Experience with underwriting, claims and policy administration systems.
