System Administrator – Medical Equipment Management

About the role

The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is seeking a System Administrator to support the Medical Equipment Management Asset Application (Medusa). This critical system tracks over 90,000 medical devices across NHS Lothian, ensuring safe and effective healthcare technology.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Medusa application, including user account administration, reference data management, testing, and scheduling upgrades.
• Monitor data quality and resolve any issues.
• Develop reports and dashboards to aid service decision‑making.
• Provide training and ongoing support to users across multiple departments.
• Collaborate with clinical, technical and IT teams to improve system usage and drive process enhancements.
• Support system development initiatives and travel to various hospitals and clinics within Lothian as required.

Required profile

• Degree in a business‑related, scientific, technical or computing discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in systems administration for complex, multi‑user applications.
• Proven ability in database management and data analytics.
• Self‑motivated, methodical and able to work effectively within a team.
• Good interpersonal skills; experience in a healthcare environment is an advantage.
