Systems & Infrastructure Engineer – Hedge Fund (London)

About the role

This is a hands‑on, escalation‑level position within a leading multi‑strategy hedge fund in London. Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure, you will own critical infrastructure services, drive automation, and improve reliability across a global estate.

Key responsibilities

• Resolve escalated second‑ and third‑line technical issues across hardware, software, and network environments for both onsite and remote users.
• Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments throughout the organisation.
• Manage Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Administer VMware virtualisation platforms in a production setting.
• Own Windows and software patching across the estate.
• Develop PowerShell and Python scripts to automate operational workflows and build processes.
• Drive standardisation, best‑practice adoption, and continuous improvement of the infrastructure estate.
• Contribute to cybersecurity awareness and compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, preferably in financial services.
• Strong Windows Server and Active Directory administration background.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID.
• Production‑level VMware administration.
• Experience with Azure cloud services.
• Enterprise‑grade Linux administration capability.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python for automation.
• Analytical, proactive mindset with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with help‑desk or ITSM platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
