Systems Installation Stress Engineer Placement (12‑month Internship)

About the role

Join Airbus’s Wing Systems team in Filton to develop and analyse systems installation stress for commercial, military and research aircraft. You will work on wing subsystems such as fuel, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics and high‑lift mechanisms, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept to production.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end stress support from conceptual design through modification, final design and manufacturing.
• Deliver reactive stress analysis for customer service issues, aircraft‑on‑ground events and production challenges.
• Execute stress analyses using Airbus methods and tools, optimising weight, cost and performance while ensuring safety.
• Produce stress dossiers, airworthiness documentation, concession justifications and design‑review support.
• Recommend design or assembly improvements to enhance performance or reduce cost and influence the work of designers and engineers.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Strong foundation in structural analysis topics such as strength of materials, statics, dynamics and pressure vessels.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multicultural team.
• Willingness to learn basic systems installation engineering and new analysis toolsets.
