Tax Accountant – Hybrid Working in Liverpool

About the role
We are seeking a qualified Tax Accountant to join a growing international business based in Liverpool. Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will ensure the Group remains compliant across multiple jurisdictions while supporting tax planning, reporting and process‑improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Manage direct and indirect tax compliance for multiple entities and territories.
- Prepare and review corporation tax computations, provisions, returns and related disclosures.
- Take ownership of quarterly and annual tax reporting, including current and deferred tax calculations under IFRS.
- Oversee VAT compliance, reconciliations, returns and associated controls.
- Support international tax activities such as withholding tax, transfer pricing and overseas filings.
- Coordinate statutory accounts preparation and ensure accurate tax disclosures.
- Identify tax risks and opportunities, providing proactive advice to finance and operational teams.
- Lead R&D tax relief claims and other tax incentive submissions.
- Assist with tax audits, enquiries and reviews from HMRC and foreign tax authorities.
- Monitor legislative changes and implement required actions.
- Support tax planning for restructures, acquisitions and corporate projects.
- Develop and enhance tax processes, controls and documentation.
- Manage and develop a small tax team, providing coaching and technical guidance.
Required profile
- ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in practice or industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK corporation tax, VAT and tax accounting.
- Experience preparing tax computations, provisions and deferred tax calculations.
- Good understanding of statutory accounting and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience working with external auditors, HMRC and professional advisers.
