Tax & Compliance Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Tax & Compliance Lead to own the group's tax compliance and reporting activities. Reporting to the Group Reporting Manager, you will be the primary liaison for auditors, external advisers and regulatory bodies, ensuring statutory and regulatory obligations are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead corporate tax compliance, preparing, reviewing and submitting tax returns.
• Manage annual capital allowances and ensure accurate reporting.
• Oversee indirect tax filings including VAT, Withholding Tax, Machine Gaming Duty, Climate Change Levy and PSA submissions.
• Prepare and review tax disclosures for statutory financial statements.
• Act as the main contact for external auditors on tax matters.
• Maintain relationships with external tax advisers and HMRC.
• Monitor tax legislation changes and advise on business impact.
• Support HMRC reviews, regulatory inspections and tax initiatives across the investment portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks and governance standards.
• Contribute to group reporting, consolidation and finance system automation projects.
• Provide ad‑hoc finance and business project support.

Required profile

• Qualified or Part‑Qualified Tax Accountant.
• Ambitious professional comfortable in a commercial environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across all business levels.

Required skills

• Corporate tax compliance.
• Indirect tax expertise (VAT, Withholding Tax, MGD, CCL, PSA).
• Tax disclosure preparation.
• Experience liaising with HMRC and external auditors.
