Tax Disputes Resolution Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Disputes Resolution Specialist to join our growing specialist tax practice in South West England. You will work directly with individuals and businesses, helping them navigate complex tax disputes with HMRC and delivering commercially focused advice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of complex HMRC tax disputes and enquiries.
• Advise clients on their position and develop strategies to resolve disputes.
• Review documentation and respond to HMRC information requests, enquiries, and challenges.
• Support clients through investigations, disclosures, assessments and penalties.
• Represent clients in ADR, mediation, appeals and tribunal preparation.
• Build trusted client relationships through clear, solution‑focused advice.
• Identify business development opportunities and contribute to the growth of the tax disputes offering.
• Coach and develop junior team members.

Required profile

• Commercially minded tax disputes professional with strong corporate tax advisory experience.
• ATT or CTA qualification, or qualified disputes/litigation lawyer with tax investigation experience.
• Proven experience working with HMRC and managing complex tax disputes.
• Excellent communication, relationship‑building and project‑management skills.
