Tax Manager

About the role

This is a full‑time, permanent position within a well‑established accountancy practice in Carlisle. You will manage a mixed portfolio of corporate and personal tax clients, ensuring compliance while identifying opportunities to add value.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of corporate and personal tax clients end‑to‑end.
• Prepare and review approximately 750 tax returns per year.
• Cover Income Tax, Corporation Tax, VAT, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax.
• Complete tax computations, capital allowance claims and provide practical tax advice.
• Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Support client meetings, pre‑year‑end planning and business development activities.
• Coach and support junior team members.

Required profile

• 5–10+ years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong grounding in personal tax with exposure to corporate/advisory work.
• ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience.
• Confident communicator able to deal directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
• Well‑organised, proactive and commercially aware.
