Tax Manager – Private Client & Advisory

About the role

Acorn by Synergie is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its growing professional services team in Exeter. You will work with a diverse portfolio of private clients, business owners and trusts, delivering both compliance and advisory tax services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of private‑client tax matters and act as the main point of contact.
• Deliver personal tax compliance and advisory services, including complex tax planning projects.
• Review tax returns and ensure high‑quality technical output.
• Coach and mentor junior team members, supporting their development.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the tax function.
• Build and maintain long‑term client relationships.

Required profile

• Previous experience at Tax Senior, Assistant Manager or Manager level.
• ATT and/or CTA qualified.
• Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance and advisory.
• Experience reviewing tax returns and handling complex client matters.
• Desire to develop expertise in overseas and non‑residential tax services.
• Excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
