Tax Manager – Specialist Tax & Accountancy Role

About the role

Our client, a leading accountancy practice in Liverpool, is expanding its tax team and seeks a Tax Manager to deliver specialist tax and advisory services. This position offers exposure to complex tax matters and a clear progression route towards senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal, corporate and private client tax engagements.
• Review and oversee tax returns, computations and compliance processes.
• Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services across succession, restructures, shareholder, CGT, IHT and corporation tax.
• Support clients during HMRC enquiries and investigations.
• Develop and maintain long‑term client relationships and identify business development opportunities.
• Mentor and develop junior tax staff.
• Collaborate with partners on complex projects and share technical updates.

Required profile

• CTA, ATT, ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience managing tax clients within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge in one or more tax disciplines.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Commercially aware with a client‑focused approach.
