Tax Senior – Swindon

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well‑established professional services firm in Swindon as a Tax Senior. You will manage a diverse portfolio of personal tax matters, providing expert, client‑focused support while developing your technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of a varied personal tax compliance portfolio, including individuals, trusts and estates.
• Prepare and review complex tax returns, such as Capital Gains Tax 60‑day reporting, ensuring accuracy and audit‑ready documentation.
• Provide tailored tax advice and planning for individuals, owner‑managed businesses and specialist sectors (e.g., farming).
• Act as the primary contact for clients and HMRC, resolving queries efficiently.
• Review tax work prepared by accounts staff, offering technical oversight.
• Support advisory and research projects across capital taxes, including IHT, trusts, estates and succession planning.
• Monitor legislative changes and communicate updates to clients and colleagues.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of emerging services such as Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD IT).

Required profile

• ATT qualified or equivalent experience with a strong grounding in personal tax compliance.
• Post‑qualification experience managing a personal tax client portfolio with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to deliver accurate, timely compliance work to high professional standards.
• Excellent organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple client deadlines.
• Confident communicator with a reputation for building trusted client relationships.
