Teacher in Civil Construction (Groundworker)

About the role

This full‑time position is for a Teacher in Civil Construction (Groundworker) at a leading Further Education College in Greater Manchester. You will use your industry expertise to deliver both practical and classroom‑based learning, helping students develop the technical knowledge and behaviours needed for successful careers in construction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons on groundworks and civil engineering.
• Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain and operate industry‑standard equipment and modern teaching facilities.
• Support students in developing practical skills, health and safety awareness, and professional attitudes.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Literacy and Numeracy qualifications at Level 2 or above.
• A Level 3 qualification, relevant NVQ or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Groundworks or a related discipline.
• A Level 4 teaching qualification (e.g., CertEd, PGCE, B.Ed.) or willingness to achieve a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching.
• Strong practical experience in groundworks.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for developing others.
