About the role
Hays Education is partnering with a thriving secondary school in East London to hire an enthusiastic Teacher of Design Technology for a September 2026 start. The role involves delivering engaging Design Technology lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching a specialist area at Key Stage 5 for experienced candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and assess Design Technology curriculum for KS3 and KS4.
- Inspire creativity and practical problem‑solving through hands‑on workshops.
- Prepare students for GCSE examinations and coursework.
- Maintain a safe, well‑equipped workshop environment.
- Contribute to departmental enrichment activities and wider school events.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching Design Technology in a UK secondary school.
- Ability to teach one or more DT specialisms (e.g., Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, Food Technology).
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
