Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages – French and Spanish

About the role

The school is seeking an enthusiastic Modern Foreign Languages teacher to deliver French and Spanish to students from Year 7 to Year 11. The successful candidate will join a vibrant MFL department within Ark Alexandra Academy, delivering the Ark curriculum at KS3 and the Edexcel syllabus at KS4.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in French and Spanish for GCSE‑level students.
• Prepare students for KS3 and KS4 assessments, following the Ark MFL framework and Edexcel specifications.
• Assess, record and report student progress in line with school policies.
• Contribute to departmental meetings, curriculum development and sharing best practice.
• Support pupils of varying abilities, providing differentiated instruction and additional support where needed.
• Participate in whole‑school initiatives and pastoral duties as required.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent with experience teaching French and Spanish.
• Strong knowledge of the national secondary education system, examinations and curriculum.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
• Proactive, organised and able to manage a busy timetable.
• Commitment to the school’s mission of providing high‑quality education to all learners.

Required skills

• Fluency in French and Spanish, both spoken and written.
• Ability to design and deliver rigorous, achievement‑focused lessons.
• Experience using digital learning platforms and classroom technology.
