Teacher of Music (Woodwind Specialist)

About the role

We are partnering with a highly regarded secondary school in East London to recruit a passionate Teacher of Music with a woodwind specialism. The role starts in September 2026 and involves delivering engaging music lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching Key Stage 5 for experienced candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality, practical music lessons for KS3 and KS4.
• Develop and support the school’s woodwind provision and instrumental programmes.
• Lead or contribute to bands, orchestras, ensembles and extracurricular music activities.
• Prepare students for GCSE and A‑Level music assessments where applicable.
• Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback and support achievement.
• Participate in concerts, productions, performances and wider school events.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching music in a UK secondary school setting.
• Strong practical musicianship with a specialism in one or more woodwind instruments.
• Ability to direct ensembles and support instrumental development.
• Excellent subject knowledge, classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and safeguarding.

• Music curriculum planning and assessment preparation.
