Teacher of the Deaf (Primary) – Hearing Impairment Resource Base

About the role
Join an Outstanding primary school in Redbridge as a Teacher of the Deaf, working within the dedicated Hearing Impairment Resource Base. You will support a small cohort of Key Stage 2 pupils, helping them access the full curriculum and thrive socially and academically.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver specialist teaching for deaf pupils both in the resource base and mainstream classrooms.
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual communication and learning needs.
- Support language, literacy and social development of pupils.
- Collaborate with class teachers, support staff, families and external professionals.
- Monitor progress and contribute to personalised learning plans.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers and specialist services.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognised Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) qualification.
- Minimum Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification.
- Experience supporting deaf children in a primary setting.
- Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum and a total‑communication approach.
