Teacher – SEND Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teacher to join our specialist day school in Grange-over-Sands, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The role is full-time and based on-site, offering the chance to make a real difference in young lives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with complex learning and behavioural challenges.
• Collaborate with in-house psychologists, teaching assistants and therapy professionals to support pupil development.
• Monitor progress, assess outcomes and adjust teaching strategies to promote self-esteem and independence.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment and contribute to the school’s SEND ethos.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a primary school setting, preferably with SEND pupils.
• Resilience, dedication and a passion for celebrating “huge small victories” in student learning.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and teamwork.

Required skills

• Knowledge of strategies for teaching pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) support approaches.
