Teaching and Learning Assistant

About the role

The Teaching and Learning Assistant will support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Asperger’s and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs at The Grange, an integrated SEND setting in Willington. You will help learners develop skills, boost confidence and celebrate the “huge small victories” that make a real difference.

Key responsibilities

• Assist pupils during lessons, ensuring they can engage and succeed.
• Support the development of personal, social and academic abilities.
• Work closely with teachers and therapeutic staff to deliver an integrated approach.
• Monitor progress and help raise self‑esteem of vulnerable learners.
• Contribute to a safe, calm and nurturing environment.

Required profile

• Resilient, dedicated and able to work with vulnerable young people.
• Passion for supporting SEND pupils and celebrating incremental progress.
• Willingness to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
