Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for ASD Pupils (Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for caring and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join Wirral Primary School. The roles involve 1:1 support for Reception and Year 1 pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and 1:2 support for Year 6 pupils who need additional intervention. All positions are full‑time, Monday to Friday, on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 or 1:2 support throughout the school day.
• Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning, structured play and sensory activities.
• Implement behaviour and engagement strategies set by the class teacher and SENDCo.
• Monitor safety, transitions, and wellbeing, offering active supervision as required.
• Record observations, progress and contribute to pupil reviews.
• Build positive relationships with parents, teaching staff and external professionals.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in supporting children with ASD or additional learning needs.
• Physically active and able to supervise pupils who move around the school.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow and implement SENDCo strategies.
