Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for ASD Pupils

About the role
We are seeking caring Teaching Assistants to provide one‑to‑one support for primary‑school pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and for Year 6 pupils who require additional learning intervention. The role is full‑time, Monday‑Friday, based in Wirral, Merseyside.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver consistent 1:1 assistance to a Reception or Year 1 pupil with ASD, helping them access classroom learning, structured play and sensory breaks.
- Provide 1:2 targeted intervention for two Year 6 pupils performing below age‑related expectations, supporting them in literacy, numeracy and social skills.
- Implement strategies set by the class teacher and SENDCo, monitor progress and record observations.
- Ensure pupil safety during transitions, movement around the school and during active supervision.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents and external professionals to maintain a coherent support plan.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic, patient and able to build strong relationships with young children.
- Physically active and comfortable supervising pupils who move frequently.
- Good communication skills for interacting with staff, parents and specialists.
