Teaching Assistant – 12 month Fixed Term

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our new school in Huddersfield on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role is full‑time and term‑time only, offering a supportive environment where you will help pupils aged 7‑18 achieve their best.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to six) throughout the day.
• Assist the classroom teacher during lessons and help with lesson planning and preparation.
• Report on pupil progress, liaise with staff, and ensure individual needs are met.
• Supervise pupils during non‑classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
• Set and mark work where appropriate and build positive relationships to drive learning outcomes.

Required profile

• Minimum GCSE Grade C in English Language and Mathematics; preferably A‑level education.
• Sound IT skills and previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH and confidence to take additional responsibilities such as food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes or school yoga.
• Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and a commitment to professional development.
