Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (Full‑time)

About the role

We are partnering with a leading alternative education setting in Poulton‑le‑Fylde to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant. This full‑time position supports students who thrive outside mainstream schooling, helping them re‑engage with learning and build confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored academic and emotional support to pupils in small groups or one‑to‑one settings.
• Assist staff in managing behaviour and fostering an inclusive, positive classroom environment.
• Act as a mentor and role model for young people facing social, emotional or mental health challenges.
• Help re‑engage students with their education through patience, empathy and understanding.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably in alternative provision, youth work or SEN/SEMH settings.
• Calm, resilient and adaptable approach to challenging situations.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
