Teaching Assistant – ASD Unit (Specialist Autism)

About the role
Join a highly regarded primary school in Tower Hamlets as a Teaching Assistant within its specialist Autism provision. You will work in a small, well‑resourced ASD unit, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related communication and sensory needs.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group learning activities aligned with EHCP outcomes.
- Implement visual timetables, sensory strategies and structured routines.
- Encourage communication, social interaction and independence.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the SENCO to monitor and review pupil progress.
Required profile
- Experience supporting children with Autism in a school or specialist setting.
- Understanding of the importance of consistency, routine and structured learning.
- Calm, patient and resilient when working with complex needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Passion for inclusive education and SEND.
