Teaching Assistant – Early Years/Reception

About the role
We are looking for enthusiastic teaching assistants to join an excellent primary school in Havering, supporting early years (reception) pupils. This role focuses on creating a positive, play‑based learning environment for children at the start of their educational journey.
Key responsibilities
- Support key students with additional needs such as speech and language delays, autism, or SEMH.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering play‑based, child‑led learning activities.
- Observe and respond to individual children’s needs, celebrating diversity.
- Help maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment, adhering to safeguarding policies.
Required profile
- Minimum CACHE Level 3 early years qualification (or equivalent).
- Understanding of learning through play and child‑led exploration.
- Enthusiasm for active, play‑based learning.
- Observant, responsive, and able to celebrate diversity.
- Strong commitment to safeguarding and welfare.
Required skills
- Knowledge of early years pedagogy and child development.
- Ability to support children with speech, language, autism, or SEMH needs.
