Teaching Assistant for Neurodivergent Students

About the role

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support neurodivergent pupils aged 7‑19 in an independent school in North London. The role focuses on students with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and other complex needs, providing both academic and emotional support.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with ASD, ADHD, anxiety or communication challenges.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group academic assistance.
• Promote an inclusive classroom culture and offer emotional support when needed.
• Implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self‑control.
• Assist with lesson planning and delivery.
• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK.
• Clear, up‑to‑date DBS check.
• Previous experience as a teaching assistant.
• Experience working with young people and an understanding of ASD.
• Patient, ‘can‑do’ attitude and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
