Teaching Assistant for SEN Autism Support

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a special educational needs (SEN) school for nursery and primary ages (3‑11) in North London.

Key responsibilities

• Work directly with students with ASD, providing one‑to‑one or small‑group academic support.
• Promote a positive, inclusive classroom culture and offer emotional support as needed.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies, including physical restraints when required, to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self‑control.
• Assist teachers with alternative teaching methods such as Lego therapy and intensive interaction sessions.
• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure student safety and well‑being.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK.
• Clear, up‑to‑date DBS check.
• Experience working in a UK school setting.
• Passion for supporting students with ASD and interest in child development.
