About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a special educational needs (SEN) school for nursery and primary ages (3‑11) in North London.
Key responsibilities
- Work directly with students with ASD, providing one‑to‑one or small‑group academic support.
- Promote a positive, inclusive classroom culture and offer emotional support as needed.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies, including physical restraints when required, to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self‑control.
- Assist teachers with alternative teaching methods such as Lego therapy and intensive interaction sessions.
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure student safety and well‑being.
Required profile
- Right to work in the UK.
- Clear, up‑to‑date DBS check.
- Experience working in a UK school setting.
- Passion for supporting students with ASD and interest in child development.
