Teaching Assistant for Year 10 SEN Support

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a Year 10 student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) within our SEN unit. The role runs from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday to Friday, offering a part‑time schedule of four hours per day.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tailored academic assistance to help the student understand lessons and participate fully.
• Support emotional wellbeing, building confidence and addressing low self‑esteem.
• Collaborate with the SEN team to monitor progress and produce regular reports.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to suit the student’s learning style.
• Maintain a flexible, responsive approach to changing needs.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑school SEN students, preferably with an EHCP.
• Demonstrated empathy, resilience, and ability to handle sensitive situations.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building positive rapport.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in special educational needs.
