Teaching Assistant for Year 10 SEN Support (Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a Year 10 student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) within our SEN unit. The role is part‑time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am‑12:30 pm, and is based onsite at our Horsham school.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised academic support, helping the student understand lessons and participate fully.
• Provide emotional encouragement to build confidence and address low self‑esteem.
• Collaborate with the SEN team to monitor progress and produce regular reports.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to suit the student’s learning style.
• Maintain a flexible, responsive approach to changing needs throughout the day.

Required profile

• Proven experience using PECCS and supporting SEN pupils at secondary level.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and resilience.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building a positive rapport with the student.
• Willingness to adapt to evolving educational requirements.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in special educational needs.
