Teaching Assistant – Full‑time, South East London

About the role

The school is a mixed Church of England secondary academy for pupils aged 11‑16, located in the London Borough of Lewisham, South East London. It forms part of an all‑through school network (ages 4‑16) within the Southwark Diocese and places a strong emphasis on mental health, offering dedicated support systems for staff and pupils. The Teaching Assistant role is full‑time, immediate start, and will support both academic and personal development of students, with a particular focus on SEN and LAP learners.

Key responsibilities

• Support SEN and LAP students in group or whole‑class intervention sessions, delivering tailored activities.
• Collaborate with teachers to identify each student’s learning needs and help implement appropriate interventions.
• Attend to students’ social, emotional and personal needs when required, contributing to the school’s mental‑health focus.
• Support behaviour management using strategies aligned with academy policy.
• Undertake learning activities and teaching programmes as needed to reinforce classroom instruction.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK.
• Clear and up‑to‑date Enhanced DBS.
• Bachelor’s degree (or overseas equivalent).
• Experience working with children, teenagers or as a Teaching Assistant in UK schools.
