Teaching Assistant – KS1 & KS2 Alternative Provision

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic KS1 & KS2 Alternative Provision team in Brighton. The role starts in September and offers the chance to make a meaningful difference to the education and wellbeing of young people in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
• Encourage and motivate students to participate in learning activities.
• Provide targeted support to pupils, including those with challenging behaviour.
• Help maintain a structured, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.
• Implement individual learning and behaviour plans alongside teaching staff.
• Assist in monitoring and assessing student progress.
• Participate in training and continuous professional development.

Required profile

• GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
• Strong general education across a range of subjects.
• Understanding of the national curriculum and learning programmes.
• Awareness of safeguarding, behaviour management, and school policies.
• Positive, proactive, and resilient approach to working with young people.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Previous experience working with children or young people (preferred).
