Teaching Assistant (KS1 & KS2) – Full‑time, Term‑time

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 at a thriving two‑form entry primary school in Barnet, London. The role is full‑time, term‑time only, and offers the chance to help children achieve their full potential in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils to help them feel secure and valued.
• Support children’s learning across the curriculum using engaging and motivating strategies.
• Provide targeted support for children with additional needs, liaising with the SENCo, Speech and Language Therapist and other professionals.
• Promote inclusion and respect for diversity, celebrating each pupil’s background and abilities.
• Use play, conversation and structured interventions to develop language, literacy, numeracy and personal growth.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back regularly to class teachers.
• Collaborate with teachers to deliver engaging lessons and prepare classroom resources.
• Supervise and lead indoor and outdoor activities that support holistic development.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers to strengthen home‑school partnerships.
• Maintain high standards of organisation, safety and care within the classroom and wider school.

Required profile

• Prior classroom experience as a Teaching Assistant (preferred but not essential).
• Calm, reliable and professional approach to working with children and staff.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, inclusive practice and behaviour management.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively within a team.
• Familiarity with the National Curriculum or Early Years Framework (desirable).
