Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant

About the role

Lee Common Church of England School is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant to support children in an inclusive village school environment. The role involves working both with groups and one‑to‑one with pupils who have SEND needs, under the guidance of the Headteacher or designated staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare classrooms and learning areas, set up equipment and create teaching aids.
• Assist in planning lessons, support individual pupils and small groups, and contribute to Individual Support Plans.
• Work with children on reading, writing, practical and creative activities, and use specialised equipment such as computers.
• Supervise pupils during classroom time, assemblies, meals, outings and other school activities.
• Support personal care needs including toileting, hygiene and dressing where required.
• Monitor progress, record observations and provide feedback to teachers.
• Help implement behaviour modification, therapy programmes and sensory or physical support.

Required profile

• Knowledge of child development.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Good communication skills.
