Teaching Assistant – PMLD Support (London)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in an outstanding special‑needs school located in Greenwich, London. The role is full‑time, Monday to Friday, and offers a pathway to a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities and individualized learning programmes.
• Provide personal care, including feeding, changing, and hoist operations, ensuring the safety and dignity of each pupil.
• Support manual handling tasks and use of hoisting equipment as required.
• Collaborate with up to three other support staff to deliver a sensory‑led, tailored curriculum.
• Accompany pupils on off‑site trips and outings, maintaining supervision and support.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have PMLD or a background in health‑care support.
• Patient, nurturing, and able to build trusting relationships with vulnerable learners.
• Willingness to work across early years, primary and secondary settings (ages 2‑19).
• Ability to follow health and safety procedures, including manual handling and hoist use.
