Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Bristol)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support a primary school in Bristol. The role involves working closely with the class teacher to help deliver lessons and support pupils’ learning and wellbeing. It is suitable for candidates who are enthusiastic about education and ready to start immediately.

Key responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
• Assist pupils individually or in small groups with learning tasks.
• Prepare classroom resources and learning materials.
• Support pupils with varying abilities, including those with additional needs (SEND/SEMH).
• Encourage positive behaviour and maintain a focused learning environment.
• Promote pupils’ confidence, independence and engagement.
• Help with classroom organisation, daily routines and transitions.
• Assist during break times and school activities.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams.
• Uphold safeguarding, welfare and child protection procedures.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people; school‑based experience desirable.
• Positive, proactive and supportive attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.
