Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Ellesmere Port)

About the role

Academics is seeking a versatile Teaching Assistant to support a primary school in Ellesmere Port. You will work alongside the class teacher to deliver targeted small‑group booster sessions in literacy, reading comprehension and maths, helping pupils build confidence in core subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver small‑group interventions focused on literacy, phonics and key maths skills.
• Assist the class teacher with classroom logistics, resource preparation and maintaining an orderly environment.
• Provide inclusive guidance to children with varying abilities, adapting lessons to individual learning speeds.
• Monitor pupil progress and relay updates to teachers and SEN support teams.

Required profile

• Practical experience as a primary Teaching Assistant.
• Strong confidence in foundational maths, phonics and literacy support.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (or already registered on the Update Service).
