Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Horsham on a full‑time, temporary basis. The role runs from 8:00 am to 4:45 pm and includes participation in the breakfast and after‑school club programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson delivery.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to reinforce learning.
• Help manage behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Prepare and organise learning materials and classroom displays as directed.
• Support pupils with additional needs, delivering individualised assistance.
• Supervise children during breaks, transitions and off‑site outings.
• Offer pastoral support and encourage positive social skills.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold school policies at all times.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a school setting.
• Current DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a busy primary environment.
• Proactive, patient and supportive attitude towards children.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
