Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Islington)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, inclusive primary school in Islington, North London. The role is permanent, full‑time and starts immediately (or September). You will work alongside experienced teachers to support pupils’ learning and development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to help pupils build confidence and achieve their potential.
• Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and resource set‑up.
• Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
• Encourage positive behaviour and active participation in lessons.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to meet individual pupil needs.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Required profile

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
• Experience working with children in a school, childcare or similar setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Positive, patient and enthusiastic attitude.
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s learning.
• Desirable: previous TA experience, SEN experience, Level 2/3 TA qualification, degree in Education, Psychology or related field.
