Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Richmond)

About the role

This full‑time temporary position supports a two‑form entry primary school in Richmond Upon Thames, focusing on Key Stage 1 pupils whose development has been impacted by the pandemic. As a Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teachers to deliver targeted phonics and literacy support while gaining valuable classroom experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering KS1 curriculum, especially phonics and early literacy.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils needing extra help.
• Prepare and organise teaching materials and classroom resources.
• Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Record pupil progress and communicate updates to teachers.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or graduate teaching assistant with a passion for education.
• Minimum GCSE level English and Mathematics.
• Willingness to obtain a DBS check.
• Basic understanding of the KS1 curriculum (training will be provided).
