Teaching Assistant – Primary School (SEN) – Waltham Forest

About the role
Join a well‑resourced primary school in Waltham Forest, London as a Teaching Assistant supporting children with special educational needs (SEN). The role starts in September 2026 and runs term‑time only, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with ADHD, autism, SEMH, learning difficulties and related needs.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering inclusive activities.
- Promote confidence, positive behaviour and social interaction among pupils.
- Help manage challenging behaviour and ensure a safe learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and communicate updates to staff.
Required profile
- Genuine passion for working with children who have additional needs.
- Enthusiasm to learn and develop skills in SEN education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff.
- Open to both recent graduates and candidates with prior TA experience.
Required skills
- Understanding of SEN categories such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties.
- Basic classroom support techniques and behaviour management strategies.
