Teaching Assistant – Primary SEND Support

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a warm, inclusive primary school in East Manchester. The role is focused on supporting pupils with complex SEND needs across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, ensuring they can access learning in a safe and structured environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, sensory and behavioural challenges.
- Assist the class teacher and SEND team in delivering tailored interventions and behaviour‑support strategies.
- Use visual aids, PECS, gestures and routines to support non‑verbal pupils.
- Maintain accurate notes, follow EHCP targets and contribute to progress meetings.
- Help with personal care when required and uphold safeguarding policies.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary or SEND setting.
- Confidence working with pupils who have ASD, ADHD, SEMH and other complex needs.
- Ability to stay calm, patient and consistent in a challenging environment.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (preferred).
- Team Teach or equivalent de‑escalation training is highly desirable.

- Full‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday schedule (8:00 am – 3:30 pm).
